Proficiency testing for test laboratories
We design, organise, run and report interlaboratory comparisons for test laboratories – starting with mechanical testing of bicycle components.
Specialised
Schemes for test tasks that so far offer few opportunities for comparison.
Practical
Test items, boundary conditions and evaluation reflect everyday lab work.
Confidential
Planning, operation and reporting based on ISO/IEC 17043. Participants and results remain confidential.
Schemes
Our current scheme covers the dynamic testing of MTB handlebar and stem assemblies. It focuses on crack findings and the implementation of boundary conditions. The final report is expected in 2027.
In preparation: seat posts, forks and frames, followed by EPAC drive systems and composite materials. Further test areas – also beyond the bicycle industry – are developed on demand.
Participation
How a scheme comes about: we monitor the market and develop schemes where laboratories need comparisons. Each scheme is published in the European database EPTIS. Once enough laboratories have registered, we run the scheme.
- Registration – you receive an offer and the terms of participation.
- Participant code – your results are evaluated anonymously.
- Test items – shipped with instructions on set-up and boundary conditions.
- Testing – in your laboratory, using your usual procedure.
- Results – submitted to us by the agreed deadline.
- Final report – usable as evidence for your accreditation.
